Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Am I able to seek legal action against someone who posts my picture online and claims that I am involved in something that I am not? The issue in question is very controversial and the claim is just and assumption even though it is posted online as a statement of fact next to my picture which was taken and posted online without my permission. Thank you

False statements of fact not opinion if they cause damage are considered defamatory and a person can sue. There are defenses so check with an attorney.
