Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I was selling a mattress which was kept in a storage unit in a storage facility. The guy pulled into the storage facility lot and I went into the storage unit within the facility with a friend to get the mattress and bring it out. Since we were holding onto the mattress I could not open the exit door to the storage facility and had to leverage my body and bump the door open. Apparently the guy buying the mattress parked right in front of the door and the opening storage door hit his car and made a dent and a scratch. He wants me to pay the deductible as he says it is my fault. I dont feel like this is my fault since he was blocking an exit and should not have parked there.

Please help. Thanks.

If he parked his vehicle in the swing radius of a door, he was negligent and he is responsible.
