Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
slip and fall injury caused by slippery floor
I had a professional install hard wood floor in my home. It's very slippery on socks and on any shoes that don't have the special anti-slip layer at the bottom. I was told (after it's installed) that the finished I had selected is expected to be slippery.
My questions are:
1. Is it legal for them not to tell me about the slippery finish at the time I ordered the work? For safety purpose, was that something I should have been told? I would like to undo the work and get my money back. Can I do that?
2. If someone came to my home and slipped and injured because of the floor, am I responsible? If someone in my household is hurt, can I make the flooring company responsible?

The answer to all your questions is "maybe".
the better solution is to have someone in the wood business look at the floor and see if it can be made less dangerous by putting a different finish on it. Then you get your nice wood floors without so much risk.
