Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
My son was injured by an adult playing basketball on a hoop belonging to a neighbor across the street. My son regularly plays with kids his own age outside, but this day the dads were outside as well. The adults were rough housing and my son (aged 10) got slammed from his feet to the ground and suffered a concussion. We ended up in emergency where he had a CAT scan. Is the adult responsible for his injuries liable and could we sue for the medical costs we incurred?

You can sue for anything you want. Whether you will recover depends on whether the adult acted negligently. That is an issue of fact that would have to be determined by reviewing all the details involved and what witnesses would say. The mere fact that your son got knocked down in a basketball game is not enough. You need to talk to a lawyer in person and give them the full story so they can evaluate whether the adults had liability.
