testifying against a family member

my brother is in a lawsuit against my uncle.my brother fell into a fire pit and was severly burnt at a party at my uncles house. i currently am employed for my uncle. i have been supenied. is there anything that will protect me from testifying. i heard there a family clause, is this true?

No, it's not true. A witness under subpoena can be made to testify against a relative. People usually can't be made to testify against their spouses, but they can against parents, children and siblings, as well as more distant relatives.

When you testify, just tell the truth. Tell what you saw and heard. No one can blame you for the truth. It's when it's embellished or when an opinion is expressed that causes hard feelings.
