Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

WalMart Cart Accident

A friend of mine got court summons from a man claiming that she hit him with a shopping cart at WalMart. Apparantly, the cart just touched his feet and he started shouting and made a commotion asking for cops. The WalMart manager called the cops and when they arrived, he said that he is fine and does not need any medical assistance and asked for my friend's address. She resisted, but the cops convinced her to provide it to him. They also did not file any complaint and just have a record of the incident. After couple of months, she receives the summon with unlimited claims for personal injury. She is now very scared and confused. This seems very ridiculous and looks like anybody can sue anybody claiming personal injury over minor incidents. What steps should she take now and how can such ridiculous claims be done?

Re: WalMart Cart Accident

She should hire a lawyer personally to represent her if she does not have insurance for this type of thing. Sorry I don't have a better answer, but life's a bitch sometimes.
