An "impeached" witness is one whose credibility has been called into question.

It does not mean the witness has been completely discredited. Merely calling into question

the motivation of the witness would be an impeachment. Your mother, for instance, could be called

to the stand to testify on your behalf, but it could be pointed out to the court that she is your

mother and by reason of her affection for you she might not be the most objective witness. Thus, she

would be an impeached witness. But the court could still believe her.
