Legal Question in Product Liability in California
Stolen Jet Ski
Last summer I was riding a friends jet ski on a lake when I accidently hit something in the water that caused some damage. I came back and told my friend and offered to pay for the repair. He took it to a shop and they estimated the damage at appr. 4,000. My fried offered to pay half. I asked him to get othere estimates. I found a shop from the Yellow pages and they estimated the repair at 1,300. My friend opted for the least expensive. I told him to cntact me when it is done. He just called me after about 10 months claiming that the reapair shop stole his jetski. The police is now involved. My friend is implying that it is my fault. Am I liable for anything?

For what? Picking a repair shop out of the yellow pages that turned out to be crooked?
