Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
In 2008, my boyfriend and I bought our home: however, the title was hold by my boyfriend and his sister for financing purpose. Back in January of 2009, they both signed a grand deed transferring title to my boyfriend and me. My question is for tax assessment purpose in CA when is the transfer valid: back in 2009 when the deed was signed or now 2017 when I finally recordered it?

I'm "on the road" today and would need to look this up, but I can say that there's even a third possibility: that the purchase date in 2008 might be controlling if you shared in making the down payment even if you didn't go on title. If you don't get a timely response you could ask a clerk at the assessor office, which has routine duties to carry out applicable law and regulations.
