How much does it cost to file your answer to a summons for an eviction?

Iam a photographer who had a verbal agreement for trade with my land lord who backed out 20 hours before we were to start shooting the photos, also there is a graphic designer as a witness.She owns a 700.000 dollar home & is getting legal aid to block us from getting this service, and her claims are outragous.the photo shoot alone was to cover rent for 1 month &we asoomed all the production costs woud cover another month she promissed 2 300.00 dollar shirts ea. to 8 models who planed thier lives for that weekend around the photo shoot.I am trying to move out asap.How do I protect myself & my family?

There is a first-paper filing fee, even for defendants. If you're going to represent yourself, that's the only cost I can think of. The fee varies somewhat from county to county. I', sure you can find fee schedules on the court's Web site, or just phone them. Be sure to specify that you're an unlaful detainer defendant. Move fast, the time lines are short.
