Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Apartment

I have lived in this apartment for 9 1/2 yrs to just find out the landlord didn't have a permit for adding on 1 of the rooms. What are my choices. I really don't want to have to move. And are there any things he can do to save this place. Or should i just start packing up my things and find something else.

What makes you think you have to move? You feel the lack of permit creates an unsafe condition?
