Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
My aunt paid for my car out of the shop against my wishes and is now holding the car until I pay her $8000. The problem I'm having is I am a TNC driver and need my car to earn money.

This is a personal property question; cars aren't real estate and real property...... but I'll take a shot at it. I think that if your car is registered (titled) in your name and your aunt doesn't have an official lien against your title, she has no right to possession, and if need be, you could ask the police for assistance. However, unless your aunt is totally unreasonable, you're probably better off trying to make a repayment deal with her that you can and will stick to, in exchange for her voluntary release of your car back to you.
