Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Auto Sub-lease contract

I subleased my car to a man for the contract duration of 12 months. I had an attorney draft this contract and have copies of his passport, insurance, work info, etc... he defaulted and got my car repossessed whil i have been out of the country. He promised to take responsibility but is not taking any action and keeps saying a check is in the mail, etc... nothing happens. He is a citizen of Sweden. Can i press criminal charges or somehow stop him from leaving the country until the contract is paid? Or serve him with a notice to pay the contract immediately. He has the money but is avoiding paying it and now my credit history is going to be ruined.

Re: Auto Sub-lease contract

Tough situation. You can't keep him from leaving the country. Criminal charges require an intent to defraud a the time of purchase. When you say subleased, I assume you were leasing the car?
