am i a bona fide property owner
I closed escrow on a mix use property 7-17-03. a few days later I spoke with one of the tenants and he told me that in Sept. of 1999 he had made an agreement with the owner to buy the property. He has a hand written note from the previous owner to buy the property at less than half of what I paid. I new nothing about this transaction and a title search was done and there were no liens on the property. He has served me with a suit. He claims I induced breach of contract and intentualy interfered with contractual relations. Aren't I a bona fide property owner if I new nothing of a previous contract and there was no lien on the property? Shouldn't the law suit be against the previous owner I he has a lagitimate claim?
