Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
I bought a house a year and a half ago. When I purshased the home it passed inspections, it is a FHA home and passed with them also. The house paper work stated that the roof was 6 years old. It did look worn but I am not an expert. A few months later our insurance droped us for the roof being to old and they stated it was in need of being replaced. The cost of repair is over $6000.00 and the seller refuses to pay for it, isnt she responsible for helping to pay the cost since she stated that it was only 6 years old when we purshase it. It is written on the paper work 6 years. What can I do at this point

This action by an insurance company seems unusual. Why did they investigate its age and condition? Can you establish how much older than six years it is? Ten? Forty? I'm inclined to think you have a winnable small-claims case, but the portion of the $6,000 you might recover will depend on the actual age of th roof vs. the six years claimed, and perhaps other factors not stated in your question. I suggest you obtain and read a paperback onpreparing, filing and winning California small-claims actions.
