Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

My boyfriend bought me a dog and gave it to me, I have always taken care of the dog, and have had it since we broke up. We were togetheir for several years and also engaged. The papers for the dog has his name on it and he is threating to take it away from me. Can he do that even if the dog was a gift.

If the dog was a gift he can not take it back. For him to get the dog, he would have to file a lawsuit, which he is not likely to do.
