Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
I am breaking my lease and need to find a replacement tenant. The management company after two weeks of giving me the run around finally says it's okay to have any potential tenants sent to the office. But when i send them over they are being told no units are available.
Can they do that? By kaw they are obligated to mitigate my damges. They are hindering me from finding a replacement. Why? What can i do?

Point out to them that by law they, not you, must take all commercially reasonable steps to re-rent the premises when a tenant terminates a lease before it's expiration date. If they not only fail to take all such steps, but actively hinder you in assisting them, you will be under no obligation to pay any rent after you quit the premises and any deduction from your deposit for lost rent will be unlawful and subject to triple damages.
