Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

If I buy a parcel of land with an easement across the property, and the easement road crosses an old bridge which is completely on my property, am I liable for the bridge repairs and any injuries someone may incur as a result of crossing my bridge?

Anthony Roach Law Office of Anthony A. Roach

The owner of any easement in the nature of a private right-of-way or of any land to which any such easement is attached, shall maintain it in repair. (Civ. Code, 845, subd. (a).)

With respect to liability the owner of an easement may face liability if he fails to repair or correct a dangerous condition, and someone is injured because of it, even though the easement is on someone else's property.
