Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
I believe this is the right category.
I am a sixteen-year old minor living at home with my parents. Some time back, I bought a personal laptop computer from a friend for $550, a price agreed upon by both my friend and myself. The money I used to pay the debt was all 100% my own from work. However, I had failed to mention the transaction to my parents.
When they discovered that I had the computer, they confiscated it and completely wiped all of my personal files, replacing my account with two; their own admin account and one for me. My question is, who has legal rights to the computer: myself of my parents?
I want no trouble, but I use the computer for both work and gaming, and would like it returned to me as I did not do anything to get it taken.

Wrong category. Real Estate and Real Property is about land and buildings, not personal goods.
