Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

change of attorneys

Is it normal for attorney to charge $40-$50 per hour just to speak to to them every time about your case eventhough you 've given them funds already to help with your case? Also is it possible to change attorney's if you feel your attorney has not done enough or you feel is not aggresive enough on your case? No disrespect to anyone I feel I'm just wasting my time on a minor real estate issue.

Re: change of attorneys

$40-50/hr is a bargain, unless you've already compensated the attorney for his or time. Re-read the fee agreement. An attorney-client relationship can be like a bad experience in a restaurant. If this describes your relationship, get up and leave.

Yes you can change attorneys any time. How an attorney charges on a case or matter is a determined by agreement. The law requires an attorney to have a written retainer agreement any time it is likely that the fees will exceed $1,000.
