Collect rent, penalty and interest from intruders in your property
In Romania (Europe), in 1948, the communist regime took all the properties from the Romanian Greek-Catholic (RGC) Church and gave them to the Romanian Orthodox Church (ORC), and by a law, from one day to another, the RGC stopped to exist. For 40 years the greek-catholic believers have been persecuted, jailed, killed, etc. This took place until in 1989, when we dropped the communism and another law was made that recognized the existence of RGC. But that law didn�t fix the status of the properties that were taken from us. We started claiming then, but the ORC didn�t want to give them back saying that the properties are of those who are more numerically. In these circumstances, we started many lawsuits to get our churches back. We started winning them, but when we want to enter in the church, ORC is suing us claiming compensations for all the investments they�ve done in the church. Because of that, we want now to ask for rent + interest for all these 60 years, plus penalties and interest for every day that we haven�t been allowed to enter in the church since we won it in court, and punitive damages for their persecution.

My question is:do you know a case in US that was dealing with a similar situation for a regular property?thks
