Collection Notice of Unpaid Rent

I recieved a collection letter stating I owe rent from 11/1/97 to 11/26/97 and if I don't pay this amount it will go on my credit report. I already paid this amount in November 1997. I called and they refuse to research this matter and claim that there is no record of payment. What can I do to resolve this situation?

You should send a copy of the check or the receipt for the payment to sender of the collection letter.
