Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Have a copy of the deed with ownership

I have a copy of myself with joint tenancy with my mother as owner of the house. Why would the title company not send me copies of past deeds on the house after telling me that they would? Can only owners get this information?

Re: Have a copy of the deed with ownership

My experience with Title Companies is that they only hire people with low I.Q's, especially at upper manangement level. It is the only business I know where you have to pay insurance to cover their making mistakes.

In their normal work, they would not necessarily make copies of prior deeds; go down to the County Recorder's Office and look up the property. You will find all recorded deeds; the title company merely has the same information on a computer disc. They will only give information to people who have hired them, realtors, and sometimes, if they are, nice people who have an interest in a particular property.

If you are a joint tenant then you are a joint owner; perhaps you misuderstood what your relationship to title is.
