If your purchase was handled in the usual way, including handling the paperwork through an escrow company, tou are 99.999% likely to be able to obtain a certified copy from the County Recorder's office. If you are in L.A. County, I think this is at the Hall of Records on Hill St. near 2nd downtown.

Hopefully the deed was recorded. If it was recorded, you get a copy at the County Recorder's office. The main office is in Norwalk, but there are satellite offices in Van Nuys and at the Airport Courthouse. The satellite offices can provide a copy if it was recorded after 1992.
