Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Should I go to court or keep paying blackmail?

I rented an apartment and then lost my job, I told my landlord I would move on the first and that I had no money to pay him at this time. He said just move and we can work out the difference when I move out. I wrote up an agreement and we all signed it. well after I moved he called my past employers and my past tenentcies where he finds out that I kinda lied about who was my past landlord. know he says I want my money now and you better pay me all this money or I will sue you for fraud and the lump some. he is calling all the time trying to find out where I live and he wants to take to my mom to find out where she works. can I get in trouble criminaly or will I get a fine or what? I am scared of this man. should I let this go to court to get him off my back or keep paying?

Dont let him scare you. He must comply with the written contract.
