Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

My cousin was holding my truck for me. He opened a auto repair shop and the did not pay his landlord. The landlord was giving my truck as collatrial, as I was not aware of. My cousin has now left the state and the landlord is holding my truck for payment. He said he was thinking about selling it. Can he do this without being the legal registered owner?

No. Call the police for a "civil standby" and go get it.

If you are the registered owner, and your cousin did not have your permission to use your truck as collateral, then you have the right to get your truck back. Call the police and tell them what happened, and ask that they assist you in going to the site to retrieve your truck. My question, is why was your cousin holding on to your truck in the first place?
