Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Criminal history and the DRE Salespersons Licensing
This portion of the DRE licensing is very vague. I had a misdemeanor convicion in '98 for solicitation of prostitution. I pleaded guilty and walked away with a small fine. I am in the process of getting my Salespersons License from the DRE. Does anyone know if this past charge will make it impossible for me to get licensed?
What the DRE website states, ''A conviction of a crime which is either a felony or involves moral tupitude may result in a denial....''. This is very subjective.

Re: Criminal history and the DRE Salespersons Licensing
While I doubt it will prevent you from getting a RE license, they may make it difficult for you. They may deny the license, in which case you would need to appeal the decision. With only one matter like this, you would probably receive the license, even if only a restricted license.
Whatever you do, make sure that you disclose the matter on your application. Failure to do so could result in no license for you.
