Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Damage to Storage Rental

At my storage space there was some damage and the owners are trying to charge me for the damage. It just so happens that I moved all of my stuff out the day it did happen. I was there for 5 minutes took my stuff and lock and split. Nothing was damaged. The manager called that day and said someone had stuck a piece of wire in the door and damage occured and that I have to pay for it. I told her someone else did it not me. She threatened me by saying she would send the bill to collections. Doesn't she have to have proof that I stuck some wire in the door? She said it was my responsibility because I was renting the space. I told her it was on her property. What should I do.

Re: Damage to Storage Rental

She needs some type of proof to collect. I would ignore her.
