"default!" how was i supposed to know?

the courts say i am in default. the lanlord has taken all of my stuff and locked it in the garage. all of my memories things(i.e.photo albums and related items). how can i get these things back? please, can someone help?

Most defaults occur when defendants ignore or do not properly answer service of complaint and summons or other legal process. Occasionally, a default is entered after legally-defective or insufficient service or notice.

You will probably need legal assistance to get your property back and/or have the default set aside (if possible at this point). You probably have some prior legal problem (such as non-payment of rent???) that also needs addressing as part of the process of getting things straightened out.

If you can't afford a lawyer, you should inquire about pro-bono or legal-aid type services in your community.
