Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Deficiency Judgement
I was told that if my property is foreclosed on and there is a deficiency judgement, I will not have to pay taxes on this amount. However, on the other hand, if I do a short-sale, I was told that I will have to pay taxes on the deficient amount. Is there anyway to avoid paying taxes on the deficiency notice?

My areas of legal expertise don't include taxes.
Please rewrite your question and send it to the taxation section.
Sorry.
