Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Need help defining my status and rights

I have a written agreement with my housemate with rights and responsibilities spelled out. She is the original tenant, on the original rental agreement with the landlord. I was interviewed and accepted (he has a copy of our agreement) by the landlord. I pay rent (and deposit) directly to him. My housemate wants to move her boyfriend in (in violation of the landlord's occupancy limits and our written agreement) and may try to force me out. What is my status and what rights do I have as a tenant?

Re: Need help defining my status and rights

Your rights are pretty much defined by the written agreements plus whatever rent control laws in your area.
