Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Delinquent Property Tax

I live in Oakland in Alameda County,

CA and I was wondering, when a

property's taxes go unpaid (May 06 -

current) and become severely

delinquent, not in a postition to ever

be paid, what happens to the house,

tenants, etc? And how long does it

take for anything to happen?

If the county wants to foreclose on the property to collect the taxes, they can force the sale. Alternatively, a private party can sometimes step in, pay the tax bill and then hold a right to payment (plus interest), secured by the property.
