A landlord must give you a written statement of the disposition of your security deposit within 14 days after you move out. A small claims law suit would be an option. Check with the local small claims court regarding a small claims court clinic or other program to assist you in preparing your case. You local library may also have a book on tenant defenses to eviction. This book should also cover your situation.
