Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
Early Termination of apartment lease
Im staying in a two bedroom apartment alone it's under leased for 7 months.
Supposedly I will share it with another officemate coming from another state.
The apartment rent is 1600, Im paying 800 and another 800 is paid by our company
while my roommate is not moving in. I was just informed that my expected roommate
is not coming and that I will have to shoulder the whole months rent on my own.
I'm staying here for 2 months now meaning I will pay 1600 for another months.
I want to look for a new one bedroom apartment but I don't know If I am
allowed to terminate the lease.
Since the other tenant is not signing the contract yet, is it still considered
valid?

Re: Early Termination of apartment lease
This predicament doesn't seem to be the landlord's fault or responsibility. On the facts given, your company seems to be the party at fault and should cover your losses. However, there may be more to this than meets the eye.
You should handle this with the employer.
