Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
I was employed as an unlicensed Property Manager who worked as an employee for the owner but was at one point of time supervised by an NBA Broker and Manager that managed a retail store and doesn't have a license. The Broker informed me that he was licensed but I discovered he had an NBA status. Basically, he lied to me about having an active license, he wouldn't let me live in one of the residential units, or pay me over time if an emergency occurs with a tenant. I managed a 35 unit commercial building, a 12 unit apartment building, and 1 residential home. I was paid $10.00 hourly and received a commission for each rental that I leased. Two days after I quit because I told him that I didn't feel comfortable with him not having an active license and performing the duties as a licensed Property Manager, he went and restated his license. Is this legal?

No one ever answered this post because it does not make any sense the way it was posted. NBA means no broker affiliation. If someone is licensed as a real estate broker, then they do not need a supervising broker. Only real estate sales agents require a supervising broker. A broker does not need another broker.
