Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Escrow Question

Hello,

My Mom is getting a re-fi and we recently received escrow documents. She was in a rush to the airport and in the interest of time, she signed the papers and entrusted to me the filling out and prompt mailing of same about 5 days ago. She returned today and we reviewed the papers-there was a spot where it asked about former marriages-she had a brief marriage 56 years ago in India- I have never been told about this and thus it was not mentioned in the ''Statement of Information''.

She remembers she's only been asked that question when she emmigrated in '67 and in '76 when she applied for a government security clearance, so it may not be in any escrow utilized database, one never knows though. Should we contact the escrow agent and correct the info or clarify only if asked? We don't want to lose this loan as a result of an honest error.

Thank you for your expertise.

Re: Escrow Question

It would really depend upon what document asked for the information. This should not present a concern however, because of the length of time between the marriage and now.
