Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Eviction Legal Fees

I have been served with a unlawful detainer. I have paid the back rent. I will not have enough money to pay the ''resonable legal fees'' until after the 5 day deadline. What can I do?

Re: Eviction Legal Fees

I take it you got a five-day extension to cure your breach of lease under Code of Civil Procedure section 1174(c).

The five days runs from the date of entry of judgment. Check the date with the court clerk; the judgment may not have been entered on the same day you appeared in court and the case was decided.

Does your judgment direct payment to the court, the landlord, or either? If to the landlord, you can always negotiate. Otherwise, consider borrowing.
