Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
I have filed for CSUNSET trademark. CA State University claims they own CSUN, which they don't. They own rights to CSU. Should I pursue my trademark?

There is an application pending for the registration of CSUNSET for women's apparel - swimsuits, etc. I presume this is your application, and it seems to have an attorney's name associated with the application. Although there is a California State University - Northridge, which goes by CSUN, I would note (a) it indeed does not appear to have registered "CSUN" as a trademark, and (b) even if it had, "CSUN" and "CSUNSET" are probably sufficiently dissimilar, and (b) it is perfectly legal to register identical trademarks for different products or services. As I have pointed out in the past, "Purple Passion" could be registered as a trademark for lipstick, wall paint and zinfandel at the same time, since each is in a distinct trademark product category. Now, ask your attorney for further advice.
