How to find a Will
I am trying to figure out how to locate a copy of a will. My gradfather passed away and I wasn't told until 6 months after his demise. It was rummored that I was willed something and I didn't receive anything. Now I would like to know how I can get a copy of the will. Are they considered public records and is it something that I can get a copy of? If so, where can I go to fing this information.

A will must be filed with the Superior Court in the County in which the person resided at the time of death. If there was no will, the estate is distributed through what is known as Intestate succession.
If probate has been opened, you should have been notified. A probate takes 6 months to a year or more to complete. If the estate is worth less than $100,000 a probate is not required.

They are suppose to be filed in the court in the county where he dies. Whoever is serving as his adminstrator should have a copy. If no one has done this, you can file a probate if you are a beneficiary, which should bring the will out of the woodwork.
