Finding out about liens against my house

What is the easiest way for me to find out if there

are any liens against my house?

I think my wife may have taken out a loan without my

knowledg

You could visit your county recorder's office and

check the documents on file there. You could visit

Lexis/Nexis or KnowX or other information services on the

internet and, for a fee, check the public records.

You could order a title report. When all I want is

a simple title report, without insurance, I call

Advance Title Research, 510-538-0610, and they charge

$150.

You can call a title company and have them check. There may be a small fee, but you will know one way or the other.
