Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

In a foreclosure defense lawsuit, my attorney wants me to pay a monthly retainer of $2,500. Our initial agreement was $1,800. Does he have the right to increase my monthly payments? He said my outstanding balance is too high and this is a standard procedure. The agreement specify that no change can be brought without consent of both parties. Thank you

You can object to the increase. Your attorney is bound by the retainer.
