what form does my husband need to fill out to add me to title and who can help us fill them out for free ?

Your husband would need to issue and record a deed from himself to himself and you. There is no official form. Most such forms are proprietary forms used by title companies. You can try calling around to title companies to see if they will help you for free. Most likely though they will want a modest fee.

I agree with Mr. McCormick, and would add that California real-estate deed forms can be found on line on the web sites of the larger title companies. I would, however, suggest finding a title company, or possibly an experienced real-estate broker, maybe one you've done business with in the past or who hopes you'll do business in the future. Please note that a married couple has at least four ways they can hold title together, each with different legal implications: joint tenancy, tenancy in common, community property, and community property with right of survivorship. You'll have to choose one and word the document properly. Also be careful in describing the property the title to which is affected. Finally, be aware that changes in ownership of real property can have income-tax consequences, so getting tax advice might be worth while.
