Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
I just found out that the home I am leasing was sold at auction on 4/13/2010
I signed a lease in January 2010 for 1 year
Realtor representing bank came to door on 4/14/2010 said that my lease was invalid due to
it being signed after the NOD was filed but that they would give me 3 or 4 weeks to live here
I have not been served with any official notices other than the realtor handing me a letter from the bank saying to call them about relocation services
I found out that an NOD was filed summer of 2010 but since I have been here I have seen no notices regarding a sale date ,, landlord said he called lender (he was surprised as well) who said that since they gave him a notice of sale date last summer they did not have to do it again

Summer of 2010? You must mean summer of 2009? Either this landlord is an inattentive dummy, or he has been conning you. He's not been paying the mortgage, and that has almost automatic consequences. I suggest you do some on-line research into landlord rent skimming in California's Civil Code and see if the definitions fit. You may have remedies.
