Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Fraudulent Use of Mailing Address

Hello,

I am the owner of a residence that I

also reside in. Currently I am

allowing my cousin to rent a room.

His estranged father, visited him at

my residence approximately 2

months ago. One week ago I started

receiving mail at my residence for my

cousins father. I, nor my cousin gave

him permission to do so. My cousins

father does not

live here nor has he ever lived here,

established residency or have access

to my home. My concern is that the

individual is already under

investigation for fraud by several

credit agencies, and I do not want

the investigators coming to my home

or implicating me by association. My

other concern is that he will attempt

to establish residency. How do I

prevent these issues from occurring?

Furthermore should I look into

obtaining a restraining order to keep

the subject away from my home or

file some sort of police report for

fraudulent use of mailing address?

Thank you in advance!

Re: Fraudulent Use of Mailing Address

simply mark each piece of mail coming to your cousin's father with "not at this address--return to sender" and put back in the mail box for the mail man to pick up, or put in a mail box at the post office.
