Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
A friend of mine tried to sell his 03 Neon on Craigslist. He came across this young woman who talked him into letting her "borrow" it until her loan came in. She then talked him into putting it in her name with the promise of being paid. Now she is refusing to pay him. What can he do in California to get his car back? Mind you, this girl is on SSI, and has the credit of a homeless man. She doesn't care if her credit gets hit again.

Some people can't be helped.
Your friend is unlikely to get the car back without spending more than it was worth. He can't even repo it since he was too foolish to keep a lien on it. I hope she kissed him when she was done s*#%wing him. Cuz that's all he's likely to get.
This is not a real estate and real property matter. It is about a motor vehicle, and that's personal property. Nevetheless, the other attorneys have answered it thoroughly and accurately. You (oh, excuse me, your friend) have a case, probably at the small-claims level, for breach of contract and perhaps for fraud as well. You (I mean your friend) could probably get a judgment if you/he followed small-claims precedure carefully. Collecting the judgment would be unlikely.
Your friend is an idiot. Next time tell him to use the head on his shoulders instead of the one between the legs.
