Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Gift tax or Inheritance

What is less, gift tax or inheritance tax? My dad conveyed a house to me before he died (made a grant deed leaving his house(1/2) to his daughter). ( he filed it at the county clerks office of deeds).he had a previous grant deed Joint tenant with mom. Would this be under inheritance?

Then if mom makes out another grant deed as JTROS with daughter and lists it as a gift and tax exempt then does mom owe a gift tax? And when mom dies, what taxes are daughter to pay?

Re: Gift tax or Inheritance

I suspect, without being sure, that you have asked eight or ten LawGuru questions about various aspects of the same problem over the last week or two. We don't mind answering follow-up questions, but the point is eventually reached where the only additional comment we can make is "You need to consult a lqwyer in person." That is now my advice. You do not seem to be able to articulate your problem clearly, and you do not seem to be profiting from the advice already given. Your issues have enough dollar significance to warrant paid, individualized legal advice. For your own sake, please go seek it!
