Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

give the property to the state

Hi, I have 2 parcel of worthless lands. There are unpaid property tax attached to the lands. I just want to give to the county, the county said they can not take it. What should I do to get rid of it? Whom should I give to? Thanks

Put an ad in CraigsList and offer free land. I am sure someone will take it. Make sure that there are no contaminants on the land, and disclose everything you know about it.

Re: give the property to the state

The first thing I would try is finding out who the neighbors are, and offering the parcels to the adjoining landowners for $1, disclosing the unpaid tax info and anything else negative that you know. Use a quitclaim deed.

Point out to the adjoining owners that if the properties are sold at a tax foreclosure sale, they never know who the buyers will be, or what uses might be made.

Also, point out that the parcels can perhaps be merged into the adjoining parcels once in common ownership, which could save on property taxes assessed on a per-parcel basis (if any).

Who decided the parcels are worthless? Before deciding that, I'd recommend checking with at least two local real-estate brokers.

I can take care of the transfer and have associates that will pay the taxes.
