Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California
My grandmother had been paying the monthly rent for the storage of my motorhome for over two years. Without ever informing me, she stopped paying the rent and after months of nonpayment the storage facility sold my property at auction. By the time I found out that she was no longer paying the storage fees it was to late and my motorhome was long gone. What can I do if anything to recoup the loss. Can I sue her?

Sure, you can sue, but aren't you going to look awfully ungrateful when the jury hears grandma tell about her generous gifts of rent all those years? Maybe she has Alzheimer's and forgot to pay. Maybe she couldn't locate you. Maybe she'll take the position that she was lending you the rent money and will file a cross-complaint against you to recover all the rent, with interest.
