Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

HOA Harassment

I am a first-time homeowner in California.

In the past four months, I've received four different warning letters from my HOA; the first two were parking violations, the other two were property violations (eg. my front yard wasn't clean/pretty enough, accusing me of having stickers on my windows).

Out of the 4 warnings, only the first one we were guilty of, and we already fixed the problem.

Incidentally, I learned that the HOA president was replaced a few months ago due to sickness, and some woman in neighborhood replaced her. And then I started receiving these warning letters.

I feel like I'm being harassed by the HOA. One accusation after another, and I couldn't do anything but to keep writing back to them, stating that the complaints were not valid.

Legally, is there anything I can do to keep the HOA from abusing their powers and harassing me?

Any legal advice will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Re: HOA Harassment

Run for the board of directors and kick out the harasser. If you had political stickers in the window, that's free speech and that should not be objectionable.
