Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Home Buyer Wants Seller To Pay

I sold a home more than 8 years ago. Now the buyers have sent a letter stating that a water main connection used pvc pipe and that I should reimburse the buyers for its replacement with copper.

1. I don't recall ever having the water main replaced during the time that I owned the home.

2. What's the statue of limitations on this sort of thing?

3. What's the likelihood that they could prevail?

4. The buyer is also referring to 'contamination' possibilities due to prolonged exposure to pvc.

5. Immediately after the sale of the house, the buyers came to me with a roofing issue and I settled with them for a few thousand dollars.

Re: Home Buyer Wants Seller To Pay

The Statute of Limitations for Breach of Contract is 4 years, Fraud is 3 years, and builder's liablity for certain items is 10 years.
